After a night of steady rain we awoke to a sunny day and no wind. A win really. After breakfast we started wandering into Campbell River. We went up to Elk Falls provincial park and walked down to the lower part of the park and met our first bear of the trip. The bear was indifferent to us, so we continued on our way. While the autumn leaves aren't as brilliant as out east but they were beautiful in their own right.
Back at the top of the trails there is a suspension bridge with a great view of the waterfall. Pete didn't like the waffle metal floor of the bridge, but he stuck with me in spite of that. Mandy wasn't keen on the sway in the bridge but did venture to about the halfway point for the best view of the waterfall.
After the falls we went down to Miracle Beach for a break before wandering down the old highway, stopping in Bowser then continuing back to Coombs for the night. With this being our last night on the Island we went out for dinner and talked a bit about the past three months and what our next adventure would be.
There are a lot of questions about the next adventure; how long, when, where, new van or keep this one? All we really know is we will do another trip, but not much more. Some of the answers are dependent on other questions that we haven't answered yet, so there is time to find those answers.
We made our way to Nanaimo for the ferry, arriving a bit
early. Heading home but not home is a strange feeling. We will be house sitting for a while but at least we will be with our people.
