Fundy Area and PEI

We spent the night in Fundy National Park at Cannontown and had the benefit of full services as well as showers. We had spent the day walking beaches and forest trails so getting a nice hot shower at night and again in the morning was so welcome. We had run our batteries down due to shady campsites and overcast days so plugging in and charging up, emptying and filling tanks was appreciated.

Before leaving the park we did a couple of easy hikes with Pete; Dickson Falls which wasn't flowing but the moss and still ponds in the forest made up for it. We found a covered bridge out at Wolfe Point then stopped in Alma for fish and chips and sticky buns.

Mandy drove up to Moncton, her first real turn driving, then we headed over to Confederation Bridge. I was surprised that it was only a 2 lane bridge, not sure why, just assumed it would be a four lane. That said, the bridge is still impressive as it spans the gap to PEI. Sections of the bridge climb high above the water to give clearance for freighters passing below.

The van has enough height for us to see over the concrete sidewalls of the bridge giving an amazing view across the water. We are at a HHost in PEI for two nights, while we explore the island, probably a park after that. We arrived in time for sunset, and got ourselves set for the night. We have some smoke on the horizon, nothing too bad to affect breathing but noticeable. The fires in Nova Scotia have been a bit of a bear, so the amount of smoke is really nothing to complain about.

We met some people from Sussex NB who Pete introduced us to, they offered us overnight parking during their hot air balloon festival, so we are planning on taking them up on their offer later in the week.
