Autumn Colours

They lifted the campfire ban in Nova Scotia today, so we were getting drifting smoke from other campers. Can't say I enjoyed that. All in all we had a good night though and we're up and away by 8:30 after some quick repairs to the bike rack.

The autumn colors are really starting to kick in so we had steep and twisting roads to a backdrop of greens, yellows, oranges and reds. Hillsides look like quilts that fade into the distance. Up close the vibrant colors impress then you come off the plateau to trees that are solid green again. We took a break in Chéticamp, taking a walk up to an old gypsum quarry that has filled in. The locals swim there and do some cliff jumping after getting their courage up.

Some of the hikes we intended to do were closed as they were at capacity so we finished the Cabot Trail quicker than anticipated. We did some simpler walks in hardwood forests that were just starting to turn color.

We were coming through the Margaree area so we returned to Egypt falls. There was a bit more water and leaves with more colors so we had a good trek in and back and Pete had a swim and good run in the forest. With some extra color and leaves falling, the falls had a similar but richer feel this time around.

We overnighted in Antigonish then carried on to New Brunswick to reconnect with our new friend in Sussex. We took a day to relax and do some minor RV repairs then plan to head towards Quebec. We are starting to get frost at night so the colors should kick up a notch, can't wait.
