Algonquin Park

We spent two nights at Cannisby Lake in a site that could fit at least four vans our size and was nestled within a maple forest. It has been breezy and cool, down to 14c at night, so we are dipping into our warmer clothes much earlier than expected. We did a couple of loop hikes, about 12km total, looking for photo locations on our return trip. In October I am hoping the maple forests will be a blaze of color. We did Two Rivers and Hemlock Trail both of which show good potential. In shades of green, not so interesting though.

Pete has been absolutely fixated on squirrels and chipmunks. Last night he sat at the base of a big maple tree, waiting for the squirrel that was already three trees over.

We woke up to another overcast day and for the first time we were concerned about our lithium batteries, we were down to 5% power left. That was after Mandy made bread pudding with our left over sourdough bread. With that we were still able to make coffee and pancakes the next morning, so life is good. With driving in the rain to Perth we didn't get any significant solar gain, but did pick up about 25% just from drive time charging. We are in Perth ON for the next two nights at our friends place - funny how big a house feels after weeks in the van. We will get caught up on charging the van and get our laundry done too.
