Perth

Yesterday it rained and things cooled off. We walked Pete to the park here in Perth then met our friend for a late dinner. We wandered today. It was great. We had another lazy start, breakfast with our friend then off to see some of the local sights with her. We went for a drive to Westport, a quaint town about 15 minutes out of Perth. Pete is learning how to mooch treats from shop keepers and I am getting to talk to a lot of his new friends. Westport is a lakeside community so we bought coffee and cookies and had a break down on the waterfront, then wandered back through town for a souvenirs and a Tshirt.

We came back into Perth and stopped at the Perth Brewery for afternoon refreshments then walked the park and downtown before heading for supper at Tangled Garden. Two thumbs up! We spent more time talking and catching up before wandering through the park by the water. Pete took a quick dip as he is prone to do but we kept our distance until he had shaken himself out. We finished the day out at Rideau Ferry where we caught some of the evening sunset before coming back to town for tea and tarts.

These lazy days can be tiring, so starting to slow down for the day. Our friend has cats, and they are taking liberties with my lap. Funny how the guy with the allergies is the one the cats want to be with. Clearly they are poor judges of character!

While the parks looked great now, I expect that the fall colours will be amazing when the trees start to turn in late September. We will be back in this general area on the return trip and will be stopping in Ottawa to see the Rideau Canal and other sites. We are thinking on Montreal tomorrow, still trying to confirm a parking spot for the van, but not overly worried about that.
